City have no fresh injury worries after the midweek trip to Preston in the Carabao Cup, so Leroy Sane, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are the only absentees for the game at Goodison Park. Youngsters Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who both impressed at Deepdale, are likely to be replaced in central defence by Nicolas Otamendi and Fernandinho in a much changed line-up. Everton have struggled of late under Marco Silva, but Pep Guardiola is expecting a difficult game on Merseyside.

“They remain an incredible team,” he said. “They invest quite good last season and this.

“Goodison Park always one of the toughest games, and we know it. We have already prepared.

“The players know how difficult it is.”

City's last visit to Goodison Park ended in a 2-0 win for the Blues, with Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus netting for the Blues. Overall City have won 71 of the 186 games played against the Toffees, with 47 draws and 68 defeats.

Predicted line-up: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Mendy, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero
